The Art of Meeting on the Emerald Coast
Northwest Florida's Destin-Fort Walton Beach is known as the Emerald Coast for its sparkling turquoise seas and white sugar-sand beaches. This area welcomes planners to come see for themselves, while keeping the meeting budget exceptionally healthy from September through May. Unlike most Florida meeting destinations, Northwest Florida has the opposite high and low seasons, during which groups can enjoy mild fall and winter temperatures at extra-affordable rates.

Mixing business with beaches is easy at the Emerald Coast Convention Center on Okaloosa Island, where a 21,000-square-foot, column-free ballroom is found among 35,000 square feet of function space. The convention center accommodates groups up to 2,350 theater style and 1,400 for banquets in flexible, state-of-the-art space. It's a great fit for all types of mid-size meetings, conferences, trade shows, social and sporting events. Additional sporting function capabilities include dance, cheerleading, gymnastics, wrestling, martial arts and more.

Sales and Marketing Manager for Emerald Coast Convention Center, Tisha Maraj, CHSP, is excited about a dramatic new art collection that will start arriving this month and permanently adorn the

towering walls of the center. "We have commissioned local artist Donna Burgess to create huge paintings that depict images of the Emerald Coast. Donna's art has also been commissioned and collected by presidents and international corporations. Her love of the Emerald Coast comes through in her painting."

Groups can take advantage of great rates at area hotels, resorts and condominiums during their stay in Destin-Fort Walton Beach. Known as "the world's luckiest fishing village," this meeting destination offers a multitude of water sports, renowned fishing and is known for delicious fresh seafood. HarborWalk Village offers group boating and fishing excursions and restaurants that cook your catch after you return to port. Fine and casual dining is found throughout the destination and at Destin Commons (a retail, entertainment and dining complex), which offers group event venues and entertainment options.
