TAMPA AREA

Tampa's city lights shine bright on Florida's west coast. But it's not all work and no play here – even the workaholics in your group will find a reason to pursue some of the bay area's best leisure activities.

Here are some great pre- and post-meeting ideas to share with your attendees

  • Work hard; then play hard at top area attractions such as Busch Gardens (an animal-themed adventure park with lots of thrill rides), Adventure Island (water-based fun for all ages), and Florida Aquarium (along with fantastic marine life displays, you can actually swim with sharks here). Smaller, but just as fun, are Big Cat Rescue and Lowry Park Zoo.

  • Get in on the sports action with tickets to a Tampa Bay Buccaneers football game, Tampa Bay Lightning hockey match, or a Tampa Bay Storm arena football game. You can even catch the Yankees here during spring training.

  • Munch on authentic Cuban fare and watch flamenco dancers in historic Ybor City. Stick around for the nightlife scene along lively "La Septima" (Seventh Avenue).

  • Jump out of a plane from Zephyrhills' Skydive City.

  • Shop in the chic boutiques and specialty stores of the Channelside, Hyde Park, and SoHo districts, which also abound with trendy restaurants and packed dance clubs that keep the party going late into the night.

  • Art and culture lovers will find a haven in the ornate rooms of the Henry B. Plant Museum and amongst the Greek and Roman antiquities of the Tampa Museum of Art.

  • Ride a high-wire bicycle and experience hurricane-force winds at MOSI. At the Pioneer Florida Museum, watch a cane syrup-making demo and see what pioneer life was really like.

  • Choose from two of Arnold Palmer's greatest golf masterpieces: the undulating greens of The Palmer Course and the tight, narrow fairways of The Saddlebrook Course at Saddlebrook Resort Tampa.
