|  |   Aerial view of Edgewater Beach & Golf Resort, Panama City Beach | Southwest Airlines Coming to Northwest Florida Southwest Airlines CEO Gray Kelly announced that the airline will provide service to the new Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) upon its opening in May 2010. This significantly opens up affordable, convenient group access to Panama City Beach,South Walton and Destin/Ft. Walton Beach.
Southwest Airlines will provide nonstop flights to Northwest Florida's Gulf Coast from Charlotte, Baltimore, Nashville, Orlando and Houston. This opens up new options for meeting planners searching for a memorable coastal gathering.
Susan Estler, Vice President of Marketing at the Panama City Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Pamela Watkins, Director of Sales & Special Events at South Walton Tourist Development Council, are very excited about the big news. The destinations will be more accessible to meeting professionals bringing meetings and conventions to this coastal  Beaches of South Walton | area and its impressive collection of meeting properties and "the world's most beautiful beaches."
"The golfing and amenities of our resorts have always created a big draw for our guests," said Tom Sparks, general manager for The Resort Collection of Panama City Beach, which includes Edgewater Beach & Golf Resort, Majestic Beach Resort and the Hombre Golf Club in the Panama City Beach area. "This year we are expecting an increase in visitors with the opening of the new airport, and we want to be ready to put our best foot forward."
