The Florida Keys/Key West Area is known for its brilliant, fish-filled waters. The string of islands itself is picture-perfect, complete with swaying palms, friendly locals, kitschy souvenir shops and a unique island culture all its own.

Here are some great pre- and post-meeting ideas to share with your attendees


  • Get on the water, and stay there: swim, snorkel, dive, fish, sail, cruise, or kayak. Where? Favorites include John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary.


  • Swim with dolphins at Theater of the Sea in Islamorada or at the Dolphin Research Center on Grassy Key; feed giant tarpon at Robbie’s of Islamorada; or pet a shark at the Key West Aquarium.


  • Experience the kid-friendly side of Key West by checking out the exotic and sometimes mind-bending exhibits at Ripley's Believe It Or Not! Museum. Too, you can partake in pirating adventures at the Shipwreck Historeum and join the lively crowd at the nightly sunset celebration in Mallory Square.


  • Indulge in the Aromagolden Signature Body Ritual at The Spa at Cheeca Lodge or in a side-by-side Couple's Escape Massage at Indies Spa in Hawk's Cay Resort.   • Eat...a lot. Must-samples include conch fritters, cracked conch, conch chowder (anything with conch, really), Florida "spiny" lobster, freshly caught fish (especially snapper, hogfish, and grouper), and, of course, that famous Key lime pie.


  • Camp on the beach at Bahia Honda State Park.


  • Take a day trip to snorkel the waters around Dry Tortugas National Park and explore historic Fort Jefferson.


  • Tour Key West's historic homes, many of which housed notables, including Hemingway House & Museum (former home of author Ernest Hemingway), Audubon House (where ornithologist John James Audubon supposedly conceived many of his famous bird drawings), and the Little White House (where Harry S. Truman and other presidents have stayed while vacationing in town). The Custom House and Southernmost Point House are also worth a visit.


  • Do the "Duval Crawl" (slang for hopping between the bars along Key West's Duval Street) – just be sure to call a cab to return you home afterward.
